New Moon-Nov. 18th, 2017 Washington, D.C.

This new moon is in the sign of Scorpio-the sign signifying death but also rebirth. It is the time of year when the trees lose their leaves and all the plant world in the northern hemisphere becomes dormant. The days are shorter and we are literally spending more time in darkness. Nevertheless, we know from past experiences that eventually spring and rebirth will come. In the same way we are called upon under this new moon to delve into our own unconscious and explore the ways we have fallen short of living up to our full potential. The planet Jupiter is in Scorpio for the whole year and this only happens every 12 years and it is also hanging out for this month with Venus-the planet of love and creativity. They are in a harmonious aspect with Neptune which rules the oceans-the mystical world, the place of dreams and visions. Deep compassion also emerges from Neptune’s realm. On a personal level this is a time for turning inward and tapping into one’s creativity. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and adventure so in Scorpio his expansiveness turns inward. Perhaps, some new artistic project is waiting to give birth so don’t be discouraged by the journey through the underworld.

I did this chart for Washington, D.C. and I would imagine that more secrets will be emerging during this time as many already have. With Mercury, the Planet of communication in a tough aspect (square) to Neptune it appears there will be some foggy communications and with Mars square Pluto a lot of anger could emerge. This also holds true in one’s personal life so it is important to be as clear as possible in one’s communications and also to be open about issues with friends, mates and family rather than letting wounds fester. With the emphasis on Scorpio and the co-rulers of Scorpio, Mars and Pluto, in hard aspect, it is important to bring the hidden to the surface. Remember the myth of Persephone being dragged down into the underworld for part of the year but then returning to her mother Demeter transformed.
