Full Moon-Jan. 1st, 2018 Washington,D.C.
This 1st full moon of the year falls right on the 1st evening of the year and it’s considered a “super moon” as it is closer to the earth than usual. The Sun is in Capricorn, the sign representing boundaries, ambition, achievement and structure opposite the Moon in Cancer the sign representing emotions, sensitivity and nurturing. This is a time when it is important to integrate both of these needs within ourselves: to honor our emotional needs at the same time that we organize our lives in a way that allows us to work towards our goals. It is good to begin the year by clarifying to ourselves what our goals are for this year and planning how we might achieve them. The Sun is flanked by 2 other planets – one is Venus, the planet of love and creativity and the other is Pluto the planet of transformation. This is a time to focus on ways we might transform our creativity and our relationships and to take a clear and conscious look at what changes we need to make within ourselves. It is a very positive time for meditation as the planet Neptune, ruler of the spiritual realm, is in a harmonious aspect to the Moon so that should help us to get insights into what our needs are and what our next steps might be. Aiding this process is the easy aspect from Mars, the planet of energy and assertion, and Jupiter, the planet of seeking and adventuring into the unknown. Mercury, the communicator is in Sagittarius, the sign connected to seeking and expanding and it is in harmony with Uranus, the planet of sudden, unexpected change and flashes of insight so it is an ideal time for getting insight into what we might need to do at this time and what goals would be appropriate for now. There also is a square aspect to Mercury from the planet Neptune so in relationships there could be some confusion in communication-be careful to clarify what your needs are and where you stand. Also, the ascendant is in Virgo, the sign of work and service, and it is in positive aspect with Saturn, the planet symbolizing structure and goals, in its own sign of Capricorn so it puts further emphasis on clarifying what one’s goals are for work and service.
I did the chart for Washington, D.C. It shows that in the realm of the government there may be some serious consideration of where things have gone off track and perhaps some changes in direction. There also could be confusion in communication and more indications of Trump’s emotional instability which could lead to insights for those around him on what steps are necessary to contain him.
All in all it looks like a positive chart for the New Year. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, peaceful and fulfilling New Year!
