Full Moon-Dec.18,2021-11:36 P.M. EST and The Winter Solstice-Dec.21,2021-10:59 AM EST-Washington, D.C.

This Full Moon has the Sun in Sagittarius, the sign of adventure, travel, teaching and spirituality opposed by the Moon in Gemini, the sign of communication, speaking and writing. Both the Sun and Moon are in a challenging square aspect to the planet Neptune in its own sign of Pisces. This is the sign associated with dreams, visions and the unconscious mind. Therefore, it can be a challenging time to stay clear headed and focused. It’s good that many people get a break for the holidays from their everyday activities. For poets and musicians this can be an inspiring time. For journalists they better make sure to “cross their t’s and dot their i’s” as the old expression goes-in other words, communication could lack clarity or thoughtfulness. Sagittarius is a sign that tends to be ultra- spontaneous to the point that sometimes things pop out that are later regretted by the speaker.

Mercury, the messenger god, is the ruler of Gemini and on this Full Moon chart he is in a positive trine aspect to Uranus, the planet connected to unexpected events thus further emphasizing this being a time for insightful and unexpected communication happening. Mercury is also squaring Chiron, the wounded healer and Mars, the action planet is in positive aspect to Chiron. I interpret these aspects as signifying that out of communication that causes hurt feelings could emerge deeper understanding and healing.

The planet Venus, the goddess of love and the arts is aligned with Pluto, the god of transformation in the sign of down to earth, Capricorn so we may be attracted to practical and down to earth people and with the positive sextile aspect to Neptune we can enjoy sharing music and mystical moments with them. It is also a good time for initiating or organizing creative projects

As usual I have done this chart for Washington, D.C. and the Ascendant is in practical down to earth Virgo which is in a positive trine to the Venus, Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. I think this indicates some positive transformational and creative achievements happening over the next month in the government. Biden will probably form some important alliances that help him promote his agenda and achieve some success in passing some of it. In addition, the Sagittarius Sun is in positive aspect to Jupiter in Aquarius so it appears as if some of his humanitarian goals might be achieved.

At the same time there is a grand cross aspect between the Ascendant, Moon, Sun and Neptune so there will still be major opposition to some of what he is hoping to achieve.

The Winter Solstice is following the Full Moon by less than 3 days. This is the beginning of winter but also the days begin to get longer. The Sun is in a challenging aspect to Chiron, the wounded healer indicating that at this time we will be aware of our wounding which isn’t surprising since we’ve been in this pandemic for a very long time and we’re still not out of the woods. The holiday season will provide some nourishment as shown by the Moon in nurturing Cancer in positive aspect to Neptune in compassionate Pisces. In addition, the harmonious aspect between Mercury in practical Capricorn and Uranus in earthy Taurus shows that we should get some helpful intuition and communications at this time about ways to make our life more productive and meaningful. The positive Saturn aspects to Chiron and Mars in Fire signs shows us it’s important to maintain some boundaries and at the same time a little risk taking can be good.

The chart for Washington, D.C. has Pisces on the Ascendant. Pisces is the sign associated with compassion and it’s ruling planet, Neptune is in Pisces and in positive aspect to the Moon in Cancer. I think this is an indication that Biden will be expressing a lot of compassion for all the people who will still suffer as a result of his Build Back Better bill not passing. Hopefully, he will manage to get some of it passed in the next few months.
